As the muddy Mississippi winds its way past us in New Orleans, we’re reminded of the power and place of these waterways in American culture. First, we seek the source of the mighty river at the headwaters in Minnesota. Then listen to stories of steamboat captains, riverboats and rural fisherman. And learn about New Orleans own relation to the river with Tulane professor Richard Campanella. Plus river tales from Captain Doc Hawley, Aaron Neville and Al Green.

Sally Koppenberg is the April 22 guest on Bridge to Everywhere

On Monday, April 22, Sam and Kevin will be talking to Sally Koppenberg, owner of the Red Beet Bistro in Wasilla, AK – a gluten, soy and chemical free restaurant. Sally’s mission is to serve as much local and organic foods as possible. She grows or harvests much of the produce that is served in the restaurant and sources the remainder of the ingredients from local Alaskan farms. She avoids using processed foods and most dishes are made from raw and organic ingredients and menus are carefully planned around the availability of local and organic foods. Rebroadcast on Wednesday at 5 pm.

It’s going to be a great week on the morning show.

We start out on Monday 4/22 at 8 am with Nora Marks Dauenhauer, current Alaska Poet Laureate and her husband Richard, a former Alaska Poet Laureate.

Tuesday 4/23 at 8 am hear about the City of Palmer Projects Fair with a City of Palmer staffer.

Wednesday 4/24 Jeremiah Millen from Envision Mat Su will talk about the Wild and Scenic Film Festival this weekend and Envision Mat Su.

Thursday 4/25 the Citizen Lobbyist gives her thoughful weekly analysis of the city, the borough and the state.

Friday 4/25 Phyllis Kircher will entice us about the Mat Su Community Chorus concert on Sunday, April 28.
